Australia vs Zimbabwe Preview:
Travis Head, captaining the side in Mitchell Marsh’s absence, would have been pleased with the 67-run win over Ireland. It was exactly the kind of response the team needed after their heavy defeat in Pakistan a couple of weeks ago. While there were a few shaky moments with the bat, overall it was a solid team performance. Head will now be eager to lead from the front and guide his side to another victory.
Head himself missed out in the previous match and will be keen to make an impact at the top alongside Josh Inglis, who impressed with an entertaining knock. The middle order, however, faltered with a cluster of quick wickets, so the team will be looking for stronger contributions from Cameron Green, Matt Renshaw, and Glenn Maxwell. Marcus Stoinis played a key hand with his 45 off 29 balls, and he’ll again be expected to provide late fireworks, supported by Cooper Connolly and Xavier Bartlett.
With the ball, Xavier Bartlett and Matthew Kuhnemann had a tough outing last time, and the team will want early breakthroughs from them. Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa were the standout performers, picking up four wickets each, and they’ll aim to build on that momentum, especially through the middle overs. Maxwell and Connolly are also expected to chip in effectively in supporting roles.
Meanwhile, Sikandar Raza and his Zimbabwe side have made a bright start to the tournament with a convincing eight-wicket win over Oman. But Raza knows the real challenge lies ahead as they prepare to face the strongest team in the group. Zimbabwe have struggled against top-ranked opposition over the past year, and this match presents a big opportunity for them to step up and prove themselves.
Brian Bennett’s 48 off 36 balls laid the foundation for the win against Oman, and he’ll look to continue that form at the top with Tadiwanashe Marumani. The middle order faces a much sterner test this time, and the team will need valuable runs from Dion Myers, Brendan Taylor, and Raza himself. Ryan Burl has been reliable in the finisher’s role and will look to accelerate alongside Tashinga Musekiwa in the closing stages.
On the bowling front, Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani shared six wickets in the last game and will be crucial in providing early breakthroughs against Australia’s powerful batting lineup. Brad Evans and Raza have key roles through the middle overs and will need to keep things tight. Contributions from Brian Bennett and Wellington Masakadza in supporting roles could also prove vital if Zimbabwe are to challenge strongly.

AUS vs ZIM Weather Report:
Expected Scores:
2nd Innings: 145–165 runs

- Australia’s strong top and middle order can push totals beyond 170 if wickets are preserved.
- Spinners will become more effective in the middle and death overs, making the chase trickier for Zimbabwe.
- Powerplay performance will be crucial for both teams to set or chase a competitive total.
- A first-innings total of 170+ is likely to be challenging for the chasing side.
- Zimbabwe needs a solid start from their top order to stay in control of the chase.
