Sydney Thunder Women vs Perth Scorchers Women Preview:
Sydney Thunder Women( ST-W ) is set to face Perth Scorchers Women( PS-W ) in their 15th match during the Women’s Big Bash League 2025. This match is scheduled to take place at the Drummoyne Oval on Wednesday, November 19.
Sydney Thunder Women will be looking to bounce back in this match. Their bowlers did an excellent job in the previous game, holding a strong Sixers batting unit to just 142.
Captain Phoebe Litchfield will be counting on her bowlers to carry that confidence forward and challenge an unpredictable—but dangerous—Scorchers batting lineup.
Shabnim Ismail, Samantha Bates, and Georgia Voll remain the main strike options. Bates’ left-arm spin and Voll’s right-arm offbreaks have worked well this season, and if Litchfield uses them together through the middle overs, they could really tighten the game up.
Taneale Peschel has struggled so far—expensive and wicketless—but the experienced Chamari Athapaththu gives the Thunder another reliable option with the ball. Overall, their bowlers will need to lead the way if Sydney Thunder want to stay competitive.
With the bat, however, Thunder have issues. Georgia Voll opens alongside keeper Tahlia Wilson, but neither has made a big impact yet. Litchfield’s poor form only adds to the pressure. Heather Knight and Anika Learoyd at 4 and 5 have also found runs hard to come by.
Despite a lineup full of talent, Thunder simply haven’t been putting enough runs on the board, and facing a strong Scorchers attack won’t make things easier.
Perth Scorchers’ batting looks inconsistent on paper but not necessarily in reality. They smashed 172/3 against Brisbane Heat Women and won comfortably. In their last game, they were cruising at 55/2 in the 10th over while chasing 113 before the DLS method confirmed their win.
The only blemish was a 16-run loss to Melbourne Stars Women—but that collapse came while chasing 95 in just 9 overs, a tricky ask for any team. So their form isn’t as shaky as it seems.
Beth Mooney is the batter to watch. She already smashed a century against the Heat and looks in prime touch. Sophie Devine, Freya Kemp, and Paige Scholfield make up a capable middle order that can score quickly when needed. Though they aren’t the most consistent unit, they still have enough firepower to challenge the Thunder.
With the ball, Chloe Ainsworth and Sophie Devine will be key. Alana King remains a major wicket-taking threat as well. The Scorchers have plenty of variety in their attack and are more than capable of putting the Thunder under pressure.
Overall, Perth Scorchers Women appear to hold the advantage heading into this contest, especially given Thunder’s ongoing struggles with the bat.

ST-W vs SS-W Weather Report:
Expected Scores:
1st Innings Expected Score: 145–165 runs

Key Notes:

- The outfield is fast, which helps well-timed strokes reach the boundary easily.
- Fast bowlers get some early assistance with movement, but it rarely offers excessive seam or swing.
- Spinners can be effective in the middle overs but don’t usually dominate.
- Chasing teams often have a slight edge because the surface remains consistent throughout the innings.
